Aspiration of the Liquid from the Sheath of the Long Head of the Biceps

A following videoclip shows an aspiration of the exudate at tenosynovitis of the long head of the biceps under the ultrasound. The aspiration is made in the transversal section of the long head of the biceps. We use a yellow needle with a diameter G 1 1 which shows us the place of  the aspiration. After the aspiration an analysis of the exudate is made.

Basic Analysis of the Synovial Liquid after Artrocentesiss

cytological

biochemical

cultural

microscopic for an elimination of crystals

We leave the complete examination of the aspirated liquid only in the case of:

1.      viscid exudates of the type of the ganglion which were always acellular, therefore    we do not send them to the cytological examination (a number of leucocytes).

2.      haematoma

because the examination of these artrocentesiss did not specify the diagnosis

we send always the artrocentesis to the cultivation.
