Reflexive Vegetative Dystrophy

Etiology of Reflexive Vegetative Dystrophy

Reflexive vegetative dystrophy is often connected with adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder girdle, and therefore the reflexive vegetative dystrophy belongs to the previous chapter. Etiology of reflexive vegetative dystrophy is unknown. A small trauma often occurs earlier, and then this syndrome originates. Patients over 60 are affected. Symptoms of reflexive vegetative dystrophy are in the area of periphery of the limb sometimes bigger than in the area of the shoulder girdle.

Clinical picture of reflexive vegetative dystrophy in the area of the shoulder girdle

We find symptoms of adhesive capsulitis at fully developed picture in the area of the shoulder girdle.

Clinical picture of reflexive vegetative dystrophy on periphery of the limb

  1. hyperemia

  2. hyperalgesia

  3. hyperhidrosis

  4. hypertrichiasis, sometimes in the later stage of the affection

Developing Stages of Reflexive Vegetative Dystrophy on Periphery of the Upper Limb:

1. stage of reflexive vegetative dystrophy

An increased activity of sympathicus with a diffusive oedema of the limb distally, with a pain, and with increased vascularization and radiographic marks of demineralization of bones. The first period lasts 3-6 months, and it can continue to the next stage, or it can gradually disappear.

2. stage of reflexive vegetative dystrophy

In this stage atrophization of muscularity and hypodermis, a limb is colder in comparison with the second side.

3. stage of reflexive vegetative dystrophy

In the final stage of dystrophic changes contractures of muscles with a pale, cold and painful limb occur.

Occurrence of Reflexive Vegetative Dystrophy

It is quite rare.
