Pathological States in the Area of the Bursa

Pathological states in the area of the bursa are most frequently inflammations of bursae, i.e.  bursitis evoked by rheumatoid affections. Another big group are traumas with a development of traumatic bursitis or a bleeding into the bursa.  Without regarding to etiology, the bursae react on a pathological stimulus only by several ways:

 
Bursae with an exudate of a liquid
Bursae with fibrotic changes
Bursae with a presence of calcification
